International Transport Masters Scholarships

The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, is offering a number of fees scholarships, each worth up to £8500, to provide development opportunities to students of outstanding ability, achievement and potential.
The scholarships will fund 50% of the tuition fees for international and UK/EU students to undertake a full-time Masters degree programme at ITS, on a one year full-time basis. The scholarships form part of the ITS mission to advance the understanding of transport globally via the development of skills and best practice.
The ITS at the University of Leeds invites applications from suitably qualified applicants worldwide for the International Transport Masters Scholarships 2016.
Applicants must first hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place on an ITS Masters programme for the academic year commencing September 2016, and be designated by the University as being of international fee status.
Specifically, please note:
- Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a Bachelors degree equivalent to a UK first class or upper second class honours.
- Applicants must hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place for an ITS Masters degree for the academic year commencing September 2016.
All applications will be assessed on a competitive basis. A scholarship award cannot be deferred and will lapse if not accepted in September 2016.

- MSc Mathematical Modelling for Transport
- MSc Transport Economics
- MSc Sustainability in Transport
- MSc Transport Planning
- MSc Transport Planning and the Environment
- MSc (Eng) Transport Planning and Engineering

For the September 2016 intake, It is anticipated that up to ten scholarships will be awarded in total, subject to the calibre of the applications
This is a PARTIAL TUITION scholarship for one academic year; the academic progress of scholarship recipients will be subject to on-going review – ITS reserves the right to withdraw funding at the end of either semester should academic performance be unsatisfactory
The scholarships provide a 50% tuition fee waiver for the 2016-17 academic year (equivalent to the value of £8500 for international students, and £2000 or £3250 or for UK/EU students).
Method of Application
Applicants must hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place for an ITS Masters degree for the academic year they are applying for. Early applications are encouraged. Applicants should submit the ITS scholarship form, including a statement of 500 words on how a Masters degree would enable them to make a difference to transportation (e.g in their country, region or area) and specifically to tackle a significant problem or issue. Scholarship applications will be assessed on a competitive basis.

Scholarship applications should be submitted to ITS no later than 15th June 2016 for international applicants, and 7th July 2016 for UK/EU applicants
Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email by 7th July for internationals applicants and 29th July for UK/EU applicants.
Preference will be given to applicants who would otherwise be precluded from undertaking a Masters programme; ITS reserves the right not to make scholarship awards or to offer a fee waiver at a lower amount; the scholarship recipients will be expected to support the future development and promotion of the scholarships and ITS, by participating in ITS marketing activities
